Since 1993, the Hellenic Cultural Association has honored individuals and organizations that have given exemplary volunteer service to the organization, and in doing so have helped advance its mission of perpetuating the history of the Greek Community of Greater Salt Lake.  This recognition is in the form of the HCA Axios/Axia Award.

On Sunday, March 1st, 2026 Hellenic Cultural Association of Utah (HCA) presented its coveted AXIOS/AXIA Award to Dr. Elaine M. Bapis

The AXIOS/AXIA awards (which mean “worthy”) recognize the many ways that Dr. Bapis has impacted our community and for her extraordinary efforts directed at preserving and passing along the language, traditions and culture of the Greek Orthodox Church Community of Greater Salt Lake. She called her efforts “a life-long passion.” HCA board president, Mrs. Jeannine P. Timothy, made the presentation.

Receiving the award Elaine, was accompanied by her husband, Nick Bapis, her daughter Alethia and her husband Chris Chatzis, and thier children, Sophia & Christoforos.

The award was presented by Jeannine Pappas Timothy, HCA president, during the annual HCA Membership meeting and luncheon. An incredibly well attended luncheon of HCA members and friends gathered in the Holy Trinity Memorial Hall to celebrate and honor Elaine.
